Time of flight vs Doppler

what is the difference between time of flight vs Doppler ? Is one beter than another ? Trying to choose a meter and dopper seem cheaper but are they any good ?
any help welcome

Re: Time of flight vs Doppler

By time of flight i'm guessing your refering to transit time. Basically transit time measures the difference between two points in an upstream direction and a downstream direction. The difference between the 'transit times' is calculated back to a velocity measurement.

Doppler while using a similar system sends and receives from the same point (usually) and uses the reflected signals to determine velocity.

In general transit time is more accurate than doppler. And pulse doppler achieves better accuracy than continuos doppler. More important ly for doppler is the calculations used from the sensors signals, PSC (pulse spectral correlation) being more accurate than CC (Cross-correlation)
