The Mainstream area velocity compact fixed AV-Flow Meter offers a solution to those wanting to measure water velocity, level and flow  in an open channel / partially full pipe applications. Additonal features include an onbaord data logger for recording fo flow, velocity and level data, with live data available via the units display.

High Levels of performance

The sensor high sensitivity means the system can be used for a wide range of applications in waste water and even "clean" water applications. With a streamlined probe, the sensor is also able to eliminate fouling and reduces the flow disturbance. Signal quality monitors also offer verification of the data quality.

Multiple Outputs

The Compact Fixed system also offers a multitude of outputs including 4-20ma and pulse output for flow rate, velocity, level or flow quantity. Two opto isolated switches allow the user to external trigger based on flow, level, velocity, signal conditions.

How does it work?

The Mainstream systems utilise the area velocity method of flow measurement, providing the user with a continuous or time stamped value of flow. Velocity measurement from the sensor is achieved by analysing transmitted and received ultrasound signal. The sensor creates a zone of inspection, here bubbles and solids particles in the water. These then provide a reflection of the ultrasound signal back to the velocity probe. The frequency shift in the ultrasonic signal between the transmitted frequency and that been received provides the flow velocity.

Liquid Level is also measured by a submerged pressure sensor or ultrasonic sensor. When the wetted cross sectional area for the channel / pipe and velocity are known the flow meter is then able to calculate flow rate.
